We offer this 3-Pack at a special price in order to introduce tea lovers to the broad spectrum of Taiwan Oolong Tea. These are three very distinct characters of tea that offer a basic first impression. Let it be known, however, that this is just a taste of the almost endless variations to the batch-specific Oolong Teas that are produced seasonally throughout Taiwan!

Our 3-Pack includes:
75g boxes of three distinct flavors of Oolong Tea that are authentic Taiwanese creations:
1. Unroasted Jin Xuan Oolong Tea
2. Light Roast Concubine Oolong Tea
3. Heavy Roast Dong Ding Oolong Tea

Jin Xuan Oolong Tea is a hybrid cultivar produced by the  Tea Research and Extension Station (TRES) in Taiwan, aka Tai Cha #12 (台茶12號). It is known for its buttery or milky flavor qualities and has a milder astringency and smoother texture.

Concubine Oolong Tea is the result of the young leaves being bitten by a tiny green fly, called a Green Leafhopper. In Northern Taiwan, a more common name for "bug bitten" tea is Oriental Beauty (Dong Fang Mei Ren). The effect of the Green Leafhopper results in an immune system response in the tea plant that offers a distinctive honey-like flavor and a complex, hearty character to the brewed tea.

Dong Ding Oolong Tea is a medium oxidized, medium-heavily roasted tea with a hearty, robust character. On the palate, you get roasted sweet corn, nutty/fruity notes, and a tangy, heady finish with just the right touch of astringency. Our Dong Ding Oolong is representative of a traditionally made Oolong from the original source of this type of tea, which is named after Dong Ding Mountain in Lugu Township, Taiwan. It demonstrates the broad spectrum of character and flavors that can be captured by sufficient oxidation and refined roasting techniques.

Delightful Oolong Trinity

I'm new to oolong. I appreciate having these three styles to try and compare. I found I loved them equally. They are each deliciously unique.

Adventure

I enjoyed sampling the teas from Eco Cha and bought two more samplers to share with friends. I frequently drink Dong Ding tea and found the sample more subtle and complex. The High Mountain Concubine tea was a revelation and friends agreed it was their favorite.

Great Idea - helped me find my favorite

It has been a while since I last ordered tea and since I have moved, this allowed me to sample various teas and determine which one(s) I wanted to re-order.

Jin Xuan is definitely my favorite, so I learned that unroasted is for me.

Now to try Jin Xuan against the Alishan High Mountain Jin Xuan ...

Thanks Eco Cha

Great price for 3 great teas

I bought this set so I could try more of Eco Cha’s teas. It’s a great price and cheaper than buying separate. I don’t get creamy, buttery notes with the Jin Xuan as they report but still like the tea. High Mountain Concubine is quickly becoming a favorite.
